Humanitarian aid well:fair foundation (formerly the Neven Subotic Foundation)
Just under 2.5 per cent of the world’s water supply is drinkable freshwater, most of it is bound as ice or in groundwater. In the end, only 0.3 per cent or 105,000 cubic kilometres is left for humans, animals and plants. The unequal distribution of water resources leads to different levels of accessibility. In 2012, the former professional football player Neven Subotic set himself the goal of providing people in the Global South with access to water through his own foundation. He started in Ethiopia and has now extended his work to Kenya and Tanzania, following the outbreak of civil war. Thanks to his commitment, families are able to live healthy and autonomous lives and children have more time for education, as they are spared having to walk kilometres to the closest clean water source. We have been supporting the well:fair foundation with an annual donation of € 75,000 since 2019 and have already been able to implement seven well projects together as a result.
